My Island - Settings

Welcome to Fortnite Creative! Today, you are not just playing a game. You are the game master. You get to decide how the world works. We will learn about My Island Settings. These are the rules for your whole island.

Imagine you are baking a cake. The recipe tells you what ingredients to use. Settings are like the recipe for your island. They tell the game what is allowed. Do players have shields? Can they build walls? What time is it?

We will learn how to change these rules. We will make a safe zone for a race. Players will not take damage. They will not lose items. Let’s get started!

What You'll Learn

  • What My Island Settings are.
  • How to open the settings menu.
  • How to change Health and Shields.
  • How to turn off Building and Damage.

How It Works

Think of your island as a big playground. The settings are the rules of the playground.

If you want a calm game, you might turn off the swings. In Fortnite, you might turn off damage. This is called Invincibility. It means no one can get hurt.

If you want a building game, you might give everyone bricks. In Fortnite, you might turn on Infinite Resources. This means players never run out of materials.

You do not need code for this. You use the menu. It is like setting the volume on a TV. You just pick the number you want.

Here are some common rules you can change:

  1. Health: How much life a player has.
  2. Shields: Extra protection. It acts like a blue armor.
  3. Building: Can players make walls?
  4. Time of Day: Is it day or night?

Let’s make a race track. We do not want crashes. So we will make players Invincible. We also do not want them to build walls. So we will turn off Building.

Let's Build It

We will set up a simple race. No damage. No building. Just fun.

Open Fortnite Creative. Press Tab to open the Creative Inventory. Click My Island at the top. This opens the settings screen.

Here is how to change the rules for our race:

Step 1: Stop the Damage

Find the Health section.

  • Set Starting Health to Invincible.
  • Set Maximum Health to 1.
  • Set Max Shields to No Shields.

This means players cannot lose life. They are safe!

Step 2: Stop Building

Find the Building section.

  • Set Allow Building to None.
  • Set Infinite Resources to Off.
  • Set Maximum Building Resources to 0.

This means players cannot make walls. They must use the track you built.

Step 3: Clean Up After

Find the Items section.

  • Set Eliminated Player’s Items to Delete.
  • Set Allow Item Drop to No.

This keeps the track clean. No dropped weapons.

You have set the rules! Now you can place your race track. Players will run. They will not crash. They will not build. It is a pure race.

Try It Yourself

Now it is your turn! Make a puzzle game.

Challenge: Change the settings so players can build, but they cannot take damage.

Hint: Look at the Health settings. Set Starting Health to Invincible. Look at the Building settings. Set Allow Building to All.

Can you make a game where players build a tower, but they never fall? Try it out!

Recap

You learned about My Island Settings. These are the rules for your island. You can change health. You can change shields. You can change building. You do not need code. You just use the menu. You are the game master now!
