Converting Assets Into Props In UEFN
Converting your imported asset into a Fortnite prop determines how your asset interacts with player characters, devices, other props, and the phone tool in Fortnite Creative. You can decide how your asset handles damage and destruction, and which resource type is dropped when the asset is destroyed.
The easiest way to turn a static mesh into a prop consists of three main steps:
- Configure the resource type.
- Set damage and destruction.
- Change settings in the Island Settings device.
A legacy process also exists, but takes a bit longer.
Configuring Resource Types
There are three types of resources that can be dropped by a destroyed prop: wood, stone, and metal. To set the resource type for your prop, right-click on the static mesh thumbnail in the Content Browser to open the Static Mesh menu.
